Knit and natter
There is a regular knitting/crochet group meeting in the Templehall community hub and pub on Wednesdays 7pm-9pm. Free to attend, all welcome including beginners as there will be others around happy to assist/teach. It's purely a social gathering!
There are knitting needles and some wool in a box in the Templehall for visitors or locals to use. Many ladies in Morebattle knit for charity, so additional squares, Izzy dolls, trauma teddies and children's jumpers can be made and added to the village donations.

Morebattle and District Angling Association
The angling association is responsible for fishing permits for the Kale, parts of the upper Bowmont and the Oxnam water. Permits are available to buy in the village shop and cost £10. Juniors are free but they must have a paper permit.
Club competitions used to take place in June but due to low numbers have not been held for the last few years, instead we have held a small competition as part of festival week in August. We are keen that angling remains part of the local community and to try and revive interest, so we would be delighted to hear from anyone interested in pursuing this hobby.
If you would like to know more, get in touch with Neil or Nicky Stevens or send us an email!

Drambusters, the Morebattle Whisky Club
The Drambusters meet every first Friday in the month at 7pm in the Templehall, starting Friday 3rd October 2025. New members will be warmly welcomed.
The format of the evening is simple – members take it in turn to bring a secret bottle of whisky, and decant it into the clubs decanter. This is then presented to the table and each attendee is able to enjoy one drink from it. The person bringing the bottle gives some information about the whisky while those around the table try to guess which it is! The second whisky is provided by the pub (also poured without the bottle being seen). The idea is simply for an evening of whisky chat – and after the two bottles are revealed, the evening proceeds with more chat and more opportunities to purchase whisky from the outstanding collection of bottles at the bar.
Costs: Members take it in turn to provide a whisky at their own expense, and all attendees on the night hand over a small fee to cover “corkage” and the whisky supplied by the pub.
